While writing this I find myself typing “BIG Xmas Party” instead of “BIG Summer Party”… might have something to do with the rainy, dark 12-degrees evening we managed to pick for the Creating Cambridge BIG Simmer BBQ 2015.
As predicted it was rainy, it was cold and some of us did indeed get a little wet but the evening turned out to be an amazing success even tough conditions weren’t favorable. The feedback we’re getting from loads of you are overwhelming and we’re really appreciative of your effort and loyalty. Thank you!
Also a massive thank you to our sponsors:
Genie Ventures was our Gold Sponsor and also ended up winning 4 of the 6 raffle prizes. A fix? They deny all accusations 🙂 Genie Ventures supported the Creating Cambridge events twice before and we feel really honored by being backed by such innovative and successful organization – based in Cambridge with clients and a strong reputation globally. Genie Venture’s MD, Ciaron Dunne, gave a great speech supporting the core meaning of our events: celebrate a Cambridge that is creative, innovative and indeed one of the world’s leaders in several sectors.
Airport Lynx was our Silver Sponsor and we’re super grateful for their support. Airport Lynx have established themselves as the number one premiere taxi service to and from UK airports  and stations (and everything in between).
Little Dragon Films also supported us and not only that, they’ve also done the filming of the event which will be made available in the coming weeks. Check out Little Dragon Films, they’re great to work with and are amazing at their job. They (promised to) make even me look decent on camera… 🙂
Salus Wellness Clinics was another sponsor – a massive thank you to them! Salus Wellness Clinics offer a myriad of treatments, both physical and psychological. They have more than 50 practitioners and a super convenient location with nearby parking.
During our events we always like to support a local charity by donating 15% of the proceedings from tickets sold by the groups involved in the event, donate 100% of the money raised with the raffle tickets and of course by raising awareness both during and after the event. This year we’re honored to having had the opportunity to work with Brainbow.
Brainbow is a partnership between three independent charities – Anna’s Hope, Camille’s Appeal and Tom’s Trust, working with Addenbrooke’s Hospital – and their goal is to fund and provide a pioneering rehabilitation service in the East of England for children with brain tumors.
Brainbow’s team includes Physiotherapists, a Speech and Language Therapist, Occupational Therapist and Clinical Psychologists.
We’re pleased to report that during the event we’ve managed to raise a few hundred pounds and Brainbow was extremely well-received by all delegates. Here’s what Carla Brown, Corporate Fundraising Manager at Addenbrooke’s Charitable Trust (ACT) said:
Thank you for your support in raising funds for £299.70 for the Brainbow services, following your BIG Summer BBQ at The Fort St George.  The money you have raised will help children with brain tumours reach their full potential.
We believe that every patient deserves the best possible care. That’s why we are hugely grateful for the generous support of people like Creating Cambridge, which helps the hospitals to offer a level of care beyond that which the NHS alone can provide.
With the help of supporters such as yourself it has been possible to fund a broad range of Brainbow services benefiting children with brain tumours and their families and carers. These include, to mention just a few examples, assessment materials for therapists, handwriting programmes to help children’s writing skills and an adjustable bath step to help families with day-to-day tasks.
In the coming weeks, there’ll be another post or two with the event’s video and Massimo will send you all an email when the video is ready. Massimo and I will also keep you informed about the Creating Cambridge BIG Xmas Party which promises to be the best one yet!
And remember, we’re all Creating Cambridge, if you want to get involved in the organization of our events, reach out to us, there are a number of ways we can partner!
Happy summer!
Luca
