Entrance only tickets available for the BIG Xmas Party 2012

Ticket sales for the BIG Xmas Party 2012 are progressing well, particularly since the groups are now actively promoting the event.  We received a number of feed backs from members of the public, with some people that would be happy to join us for a drink or two, without the commitment of a full dinner event as we have been doing since 2010.

For this specific reason we recently introduced the entrance only option that, for a super discounted price of £8.00 will allow entrance to the party together with a complimentary drink offered from our gold sponsor.  So if you want to join us even just for an hour, perhaps to have an aperitif with us or simply to support our charity please buy your entrance only ticket now!

Announcing the BIG Xmas Party 2012

Big Summer BBQ 2012 & Support for Emmaus

As those who have attended past events already know, we pride ourselves in using the events to support charities in the area. This year we decided to support Emmaus Cambridge.

In past events our fundraising took place exclusively through a raffle held on the night of the BBQ.

This year, we decided to extend our fundraising by also donating 15% of all group discounted tickets to the charity, thus involving the many groups and networks that support the event.

We are happy to say that this new approach helped us to break our previous record, and we raised £418.80 for the charity.

From the total money, around 25% was generated from the group discounted ticket sales, which brought nearly 1/4 of you all to the event. We think that this is living proof of the generosity and community spirit which are at the basis of the many Cambridge groups and networks.

The remaining money was generated on the night by the sale of raffle tickets, and by our 50% “charity tax” on the sale of last-minute tickets to those who just could not give up the opportunity to join us. 🙂

So, once again, thanks to all of you that supported the BBQ and our chosen charity Emmaus.

The BIG Summer BBQ 2012 another success for Creating Cambridge

The BIG Summer BBQ 2012 on Friday 13 July was another success for the Creating Cambridge team and for all groups that once more supported the event and encouraged their members to actively take part to it.

The new venue for this event, the Cambridge Blue, added an amazing atmosphere and everything worked out amazingly well including glorious sunshine right up until the food ran out… And then the rain came pouring down 🙁  Luckily it was approaching 9pm and many attendees had already left for the night.  The hardy ones that remained crowded under the big umbrellas, or dashed into the pub….. and the conversations just kept going right until last calls!

We would like to thank all the groups that supported the event, our sponsors that made the event possible as well as Jethro and his staff for serving great food and an amazing variety of beers.

Late bookers to help Emmaus

It happens every time; people postpone the purchase of their ticket to the last minute and then sales close.  Tickets have been on sales since March but, as sales ended yesterday, we had already several requests for tickets… Last year we had to send away at least a dozen people who turned up at the door without a ticket.

This year we decided we’ll allow up to 10 people to pay at the door.  We are charging £30 at the door  and paying 50% of this money(e.g. £15 per ticket)  to our charity Emmaus.
