Pictures from the Big Christmas Party

It’s late February and Xmas 2010 seems a very long time ago … yes we know… it took a bit of time but we finally have the whole set of pictures from the event 🙂

We have added here most of the photos taken on the night. But you can see the whole set from the photographers’ web site.

We would like to thank very much Kristi Dunlap and Andy Elliott from 361 Photography for their great contribution to the party by taking some amazing shots. The rest of the shots can be seen on this page.

Video Interview with Suzanne Oliver, HLBBShaw

While the organisers were having last minute panic attacks before the Xmas party, in a quiet room upstairs Suzanne Oliver shared her thoughts on IP issues for technology companies with Rob Symes. She covered the current trends and the importance of IP protection.

If you want to hear Suzanne’s views and stories, please look at the video interview:

We would like to thank Rob Symes (Campbell Black) for kindly offering to produce the video interview.

Xmas 2010: another great success for Creating Cambridge

The weather mildly tried to discourage people to join us: luckily it did not succeed 🙂

Despite the cold and snow  a total of 109 people attended the BIG Christmas Party 2010 on Thursday 16 December, a great result for us all.

A mix of entrepreneurs, creative people,  employees of local tech companies and members of the universities (Cambridge and Anglia Ruskin) were represented at this unique networking event.   We succeeded in attracting people from different groups, experiences and backgrounds to facilitate a networking event where people had the opportunity of catching up with old friends as well as meeting new people from this diverse community.

We would like to thank our main sponsor HLBBShaw and all individuals that spent time and resources to help and contribute to the success of this event. And also a big thanks to “The Juliets” for providing fabulous music on the night.

Please have a look at some of the first pictures available, others will be posted soon.

Cambridge Networks Interviewed On Cambridge City Radio

An essential element of Creating Cambridge it the desire to publicise and bring together the many organised networks that operate in the hi-tech, bio-tech and creative sectors in Cambridge.

Mauro Ciaccio, one of the Creating Cambridge founders, recently had the opportunity to meet with three group organisers, and share thoughts about what they do and, more importantly, what Cambridge needs more of. The interview can be found in the Pitch & Mix podcast series, recorded with the technical support of Cambridge City Radio.

  1. Joann Leeding – Cambridge AWiSE Co-Ordinator , a voluntary regional network for women in SET (Science, Engineering and Technology) and women wishing to return to SET after a career break.
  2. Mainda Kiwelu – CaMedia Organiser, bringing together artists & designers who want to licence their work, with businesses that want to enhance their brands or want new commercial products.
  3. Mark Goodson – CamJelly Founder and Organiser , a co-working group which meets weekly at ideaSpace, where freelancers, home workers and people running small businesses meet up in order to get out of their normal space, meet some new people and work together in a social environment.

The top 5 reasons to be at the BIG Christmas Party

The Creating Cambridge BIG Christmas Party will be a unique event in its kind. For the first time in recent history, 13 Cambridge networking groups are promoting the event among their members.

Click to book your ticket. Still not convinced? Then read on!

When we talk to people we are often asked the main reasons to attend the BIG Christmas Party and here are the top 5.

  1. Enjoy a great Christmas Party: Starting from a reception drink all the way to a 3 courses hot fork buffet and a great blues band you will find all elements of a fantastic Xmas party to be enjoyed where all details have been thought about and taken care of.  The venue, Cambridge Union Society, is prestigious, super central and ideal for this event, having a number of rooms and halls of different sizes.
  2. Network: You will be within a highly varied blend of people, from the hi-tech, bio-tech and creative industries. As 13 different networking groups and meet-ups are promoting this event, it will be a great opportunity to meet people outside your usual circle / network.  We are aware of a number of deals being closed, and people being recruited during and after the BIG Summer BBQ so this is a great opportunity to meet potential new:
    • business partners
    • suppliers
    • customers
    • employees
    • employers
  3. Catch up with old friends: Cambridge is, after all, a small place.  Given the variety of people at the event, you are likely to meet up with the old friends or ex colleagues that you have not seen for a long time.
  4. Not a corporate Xmas: Are you a small startup, SME or freelancer? Well why not come to our Christmas Party and blend with many others in similar situation.
  5. Help good causes: Part of the proceeds from the party will go to nominated charities.

We are confident about how the event is evolving toward its due date thanks to the precious contribution of our collaborators.

Next thing for you to do now is click this link and book your place to the party: numbers are limited and running out fast.

We look forward to seeing you there!
