The idea for some kind of community event emerged from a session organised at the BarCamb3 “Unconference” in Spring 2010. The result of our analysis was that Cambridge is home to many different groups and networks, and these networks do not connect easily. As a result a huge potential for cross-pollination of ideas is lost.
It was comforting for us that a few weeks later at a Judge Business School event, the (now former) head of the school Prof DeMeyer asked the question: Why do the technology and the bio-science clusters not communicate?
We believe that there is a general awareness of this lack of communication, and yet no-one seems to be addressing it. Rather than organise debates, workshops, etc, we thought we’d simply bring people together. And we’re convinced that breaking down the personal barriers is the first step towards improving communication amongst all the communities within the Cambridge cluster.
With regards to Creating Cambridge, it is simply the “umbrella” name chosen by the groups and networks that promote the events.
The core organising team of Creating Cambridge is made up of:
Massimo Gaetani – Salus Wellness
Rich Wainwright – Action Coach
